David Kaneda, FAIA, PE, LEED Fellow 

Managing Principal, The Integral Group

David Kaneda is a Principal and Thought Leader at the Integral Group and a nationally recognized expert on designing high performance, sustainable electrical and lighting systems, including electrical power distribution, plug load reduction, circadian lighting, daylighting, renewables, energy storage, and microgrids. His experience includes over three decades working in the building industry in North America and Europe. He has been a design principal for over 50 LEED Platinum Certified, AIA COTE Top 10, Net Zero Energy, Wll Building Standard, and Living Building Challenge projects, and his design for the IDeAs "Z Squared" San Jose office was the first net zero energy commercial office building in the Unity States and the first certified by the International Living Futures Institute. 

David is a Professional Engineer, a Fellow in both the AIA and USGBC, a Chartered Engineer in the UK and a registered European Engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Penn State, an MBA from the London Business School, and has over three decades of experience in the design and coordination of electrical systems for building in a range of projects from residences and commercial offices to educational facilities, laboratories, and civic buildings. 

In addition to his design and research responsibilities at Integral Group, David serves on the General Services Administration's National Register of Peer Professionals and Green Building Advisory Committee. He also is a member of the AIA California Council - Energy and Built Environment Steering Committee and holds advisory positions in Penn State's AE Program, Acterra and Realcom, and he has presented on sustainable design issues nationally and internationally, lectured at numerous universities, and published research on sustainable design, Net Zero Energy design and reducing plug loads in buildings all with the goal of making deep green sustainable design mainstream in the building industry.
